When I was a little girl, I LOVED watching Sesame Street. There was this one episode where a little girl had a llama, and I told my Mom that I needed a llama too. It was a dream that I didn’t ever give up. As I got older though, I discovered alpacas and quickly realized that I would probably rather have an alpaca. I mean come on…they are just so darn cute and always look like they are smiling! Our Caking Girl agrees with my assessment, and might even love alpacas more than I do. Just look…what’s not to love??
See??? We all need one of these cuties! This guy just puts a smile on my face instantly. I’m pretty sure I would never feel gloomy with one or two of these fluffy babies around. BUT, since I currently don’t have a yard big enough for one (yet), our Caking Girl decided to design an Alpaca Cake to brighten our day. If it doesn’t put a smile on your face, I’m not sure anything will!
She lovingly named this cake Opal the Alpaca in honor of a friend of a friend who has a business based around alpaca fleece. Annelise thought that Opal was the perfect name for her colorful creation. I couldn’t agree more! 🙂
Opal is covered in pink vanilla buttercream and bejeweled with a custom sprinkle mix designed by the one and only Sprinkle Pop! If you’ve never tried their sprinkles, you really should. We couldn’t believe how delicious they were!! I ended up having to hide the rest of the sprinkles because little…AND big hands kept picking out their favorites. 😉
I just couldn’t be prouder of how well our Caking Girl did on this cake. She definitely has a knack with cakes. I only had to show her how to use the piping tip, a quick fondant trick for the face and the best way to “toss” the sprinkles onto the cake. She baked a very delicious lemon cake and filled it with strawberry buttercream AND lemon curd! Yuuuummmmmooo!
Let us know what you think of Opal the Alpaca cake. I’m thinking we need to have Annelise make another one to show you all how she made it, step by step. Everyone needs a sprinkle covered alpaca cake to brighten their day, don’t you think?
Just wait until you see what our Caking Girl has designed for you next!! Until then, get in the kitchen and make some sweet memories with the ones you love!
